The date is set: this April 30 will mark the first ever "Half-O-Ween" party hosted by Mount Inspiration at the Asheville Music Hall. Proceeds from the event will be split evenly among local environmental protection non-profits Dogwood Alliance, MountainTrue, and RiverLink. The party will include live, local DJ-duo "BomBassic," raffles from local breweries, restaurants, and shops, a costume contest at midnight, and LOTS of candy!
"I honestly just wanted to dress up for Halloween more than once a year!" said Founder Evans Prater. "The idea was originally just a way to do that, almost six months to the day after the 'real' Halloween. Then we asked ourselves 'Why not make this a charity event?'"
Mount Inspiration has pledged its usual upping to 10% of profits from sales on the night of the event going directly to the non-profits the event will support.
"We're so excited to dress up, dance, eat candy, and raise money for our cause!" said Kimala Luna, Marketing Associate at Dogwood Alliance.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. for youth and parent trick-or-treating and information sessions hosted by Dogwood Alliance, MountainTrue, and RiverLink. Music will start at 10 p.m. and continue until 2 a.m., with a pause at midnight for a costume contest.
